For many years now, XKCD has been THE ubiquitous comic within the geek/skeptic/atheist online communities. SMBC comics provides a much more awesome experience in my opinion. I too started as an XKCD acolyte. But then I realised that XKCD’s reputation seems to stem from only 1 in (say) 20 comics being really good, with the other 19 coasting on the goodwill generated from the 1 good one. And in the last 2 years I think it’s even less than 1 in 20.
SMBC is made by the superhero polymath Zach Weinersmith. Updates are 7 days a week not 3 and Zach’s been doing it for a decade. By now I think he’s a lot more consistent than XKCD and has my geek webcomic seal of approval. Don’t forget the aftercomic! (If there’s a red button below the strip, hover your mouse over it.)
