Jesus + Sword

I did a short silly disproof of Christianity a while ago. Time for another one. This one’s a bit more sinister: it proves Jesus deserved to die. Hat tip to this “amazing” video. It’s a real quick one.

  • Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. (Mat 26:52, KJV)
  • Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Mat, 10:34, KJV)

It’s even from the same book! We don’t even need to apply our favourite Aristotelian syllogisms to get to the conclusion that Jesus deserved to die by the sword. (Incidentally this contradicts the crucifiction story since by that logic he should have been sworded.)

How oh how to get out of it? Well, here’s some apologetics: The second verse speaks of Jesus sending a sword, which is different to taking a sword. An interesting experiment would be to take this bit of apologetics and mix it up with 10 “real” apologetic statements and see how many can tell the difference.

Of course we could draw even more bizzare conclusions from the 2 verses, since the best part is that from a contradiction you can prove anything.
