In what way is it a biological error to be born female in Iran? Surely Iranian women have the same average fitness as Iranian men?

Hi James. I’m a bit puzzled by your comment. What makes you think there are “real” races with “real” genetic differences (eg. black/Asian) vs “unreal” races (eg. Jewish)? What makes you think Jews (esp secular Jews) identify not with culture but some biological sign (eg. my family tree only having married other ‘Jews’, to quote your quotation mark) — something I’ve never really seen outside of your specific post. If identifying as Jewish is “exceedingly” racist, why do you say it doesn’t bother you? Shouldn’t it bother you? Who is it unfair to?

Good post. How can you be a jewish atheist? Kind of rhetorical question – if you live in North America and you are 2nd or 3rd generation – then what makes you ‘jewish’ – you know? That’s like saying your’re Arab-American – but without genetic difference (like being black or asian), there’s nothing to make you ‘jewish’. UNLESS – your entire family tree only married other ‘jews’, like my American ancestors could have only married other Scotts, in which case I could call myself ‘Scottish’ ? After 4 generations? Hardly. I understand the need to cling to culture, but really, if you’re born in America, and you’re not atheist, then you are not Jewish – and maybe you guys should resign to that fact. Although it doesn’t bother me, I find it exceedingly racist that jews in particular define themselves not by religion or genes or even culture – but by some distant biological connection. It’s really very unfair.
