Another Visualisation Exercise

Read through the following 5 short descriptions of hypothetical characters and have a think about how you’d describe them in a piece of creative writing. Consider especially how occupation and personality might influence your choice for what kinds of clothing each of these scientists/managers will wear:

1. M. Schulman – first economics professor of career journalist Daniel Pink, who Daniel describes as being unlikely to believe the success of open source projects since they fly in the face of basic economics.
2. L. Singer – runs the Long Island Committee for Soviet Jewry which did the groundwork for bringing Jews out of the Soviet Union into the New York area.
3. M. Yamamoto – a chemist who invented a way to extract vanilla from cow dung. Yes, since it’s a Japanese market they certainly DO make ice cream from it.
4. A. Kinser – PhD in Communication from Purdue University whose doctoral thesis focussed on human interaction.
5. F. Grifo – senior associate of the Union of Concerned Scientists, who advocate science-based policy from the US government.
